Vera Tree Service is based in Altadena and provides residential and commercial tree removal, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, palm care, landscaping, hardscaping, and lawn care. Altadena is home base. Vera is family-owned and operated. We work these foothill streets every week, from the homes below the canyon up through the neighborhoods along Lake Avenue and the west side toward the Arroyo. Altadena's canopy is old and mixed, Deodar cedars (the Christmas Tree Lane cedars are the famous ones), coast live oaks, towering Mexican fan palms, pines, and a lot of eucalyptus that grew faster than anyone planned for.
Beyond the regular tree work, Altadena lots ask for judgment: standing dead trees, hazard limbs over homes, and plantings that have outgrown the space between houses. We handle that work in stages, with a written price agreed before we start. That means safe removal of dead and hazardous trees and careful pruning.
Altadena is unincorporated LA County, which matters for oaks: county protections can apply here rather than a city ordinance. At your estimate we tell you whether your tree is affected, and what, if anything, needs approval before work starts.
Scheduled tree care for Altadena businesses, HOAs and managed properties, one point of contact, photo reports after every visit.
Yes. Trees, landscaping, hardscaping and lawn care are one crew here, so a removal or pruning job can be planned together with recurring lawn care. Tell us what the whole yard needs in the quote form and we will price it in writing before work starts.
Mowing, edging, blowing and seasonal yard work on a recurring schedule, plus fertilizing and weed control when your yard needs it. We agree the schedule and the written price before we start, and the same crew looks after the trees above the lawn, too.
Yes, most of our Altadena removals are sectional removals with rigging in fenced yards with pools and power lines. That's the normal job here, not the exception.
Yes. Cedars get structural pruning and deadwood removal, never topping. Palms get skinning and skirt/frond removal, including tall fan palms.
