Vera Tree Service provides residential and commercial tree service in San Dimas, including tree removal, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, palm care, landscaping, hardscaping, and lawn care. San Dimas has two landscapes in one small city. In the north, San Dimas Canyon and the foothill streets above Foothill Boulevard carry native oaks and sycamores and face canyon winds. Along Bonita Avenue, Old Town keeps an older, smaller-lot canopy of palms, camphors and backyard fruit trees. In the south, Via Verde is hilly and manicured around Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park and Puddingstone: larger homes, slopes, and eucalyptus and pines planted with the subdivisions and now fully grown. Vera Tree Service is a family-owned business, and we handle the estimate, the scheduling and the work ourselves.

That means San Dimas tree work is rarely just a saw question. On canyon lots it is hillside lot care and wind-firm pruning. In Via Verde it is slope access, rigging over roofs and pools, and keeping hillside drainage in mind when stumps and roots come out. In Old Town it is tight access and older trees that have outgrown the lot they were planted on.

San Dimas has a clear permit rule: use it. Under the city's Tree Preservation Ordinance (Ordinance No. 913, Municipal Code section 18.162), a tree removal permit from the Planning Division is required before removing or relocating a significant mature tree: any oak 8 inches or more in trunk diameter, any other species 10 inches or more, or a multi-trunk tree with a combined circumference of 38 inches or more, measured 36 inches above the ground. Removal is considered for disease, development of the property, or health and safety reasons. We measure at the estimate, tell you if your tree meets the threshold, and do not schedule a covered removal without the permit path clear.

San Dimas questions

Before you book

Yes, if it is a significant mature tree under the city's Tree Preservation Ordinance: an oak 8 inches or more in trunk diameter, another species 10 inches or more, or a multi-trunk tree with a combined circumference of 38 inches or more, measured 36 inches above the ground. That permit comes from the Planning Division before removal or relocation. Smaller trees below those thresholds are a different case. We measure at the estimate and tell you which side of the line yours is on.

Yes. Canyon oak care means deadwood out, low limbs lifted, canopies thinned for the wind, and growth cut back from the roof and chimney. Canyon lots get a walk-through first, because slope and exposure change how much pruning the tree can take.

That is a normal Via Verde job. The tree comes down in sections with rigging and controlled lowering, planned for the slope and the pool below, and if it meets the city's mature-tree thresholds, the permit comes first.
