Planting & garden beds
Trees, shrubs and planting beds chosen for valley sun, soil and water, planted at the right depth and spacing, with mulch and edging to finish.
Planting, beds, sod and garden work planned around the trees that anchor your property, plus irrigation and drainage that keep it all alive through a valley summer.
Vera Tree Service provides landscaping for residential and commercial properties across the San Gabriel Valley. Landscaping works when it starts with the trees. Shade patterns, roots and canopy decide what will thrive underneath, where water pools, and which corner stays green in August. As a tree company first, Vera plans planting and garden work around that reality instead of fighting it.
Our family-owned company provides landscaping across the San Gabriel Valley from our Altadena base, landscape refreshes and planting, garden beds, sod, and irrigation and drainage work for homes, HOAs and commercial properties.
Scope is agreed on site and priced in writing before work starts. Tell us the outcome you want, shade, privacy, a lower-water yard, a front yard that looks cared-for again, and we will build the plan backwards from there.
Trees, shrubs and planting beds chosen for valley sun, soil and water, planted at the right depth and spacing, with mulch and edging to finish.
New sod and lawn renovation as part of a wider yard plan, graded and prepped properly so it knits in and drains. Ongoing mowing and care sits on our lawn care page.
Sprinkler and drip work, and drainage fixes for the low spots and runoff paths that drown planting and lift flatwork, planned with roots in mind, not through them.
Valley summers are hot and dry, and water rules and rates make irrigation efficiency more than a nice idea. Plant selection and watering zones should reflect how much water a planting actually needs, deep-rooted and drought-smart choices for most of the yard, with water reserved for the lawn and beds that earn it. Local water restrictions vary by provider and change over time, so we plan to the rules that apply at your address when the work is done rather than quoting a generic schedule.
Soils vary from decomposed granite on foothill lots in places like Altadena and Sierra Madre to heavier valley-floor soils further south, and drainage behaves differently in each. Beds, sod and drainage work are scoped after looking at your actual soil and slope, not from a template.
Existing trees are protected during landscaping work. Roots are worked around, not cut through casually, grade changes under a canopy are kept honest, and new planting is spaced for the tree's mature size, the mistakes that kill mature trees in remodels are avoidable with planning.
We walk the property with you, sun, shade, soil, drainage, existing trees, and agree the outcome and scope in plain language.
Planting, bed, sod and irrigation scope is priced in writing, with materials and quantities clear, before any digging starts.
Work is done as scoped, planting is watered in, old material is taken out, and watering guidance for the first weeks is left with you.
Landscaping cost is driven by the size of the area, plant sizes and quantities, materials for beds and edging, sod area and ground preparation, irrigation and drainage scope, and removal of what is coming out. A front-yard refresh and a full back-yard replant are different projects, which is why pricing follows a site walk and a written plan.
Phasing is normal: many owners do planting and beds first and add areas over time. Your quote can be structured in phases so you can decide what happens now and what waits.
Yes, that is the advantage of a tree company doing the work. Planting is spaced for mature canopy, roots are worked around rather than cut, and soil and mulch levels under trees are kept correct. If a plan would harm a tree, we will redesign that part with you.
Yes. Plant choices and irrigation zoning can cut water use substantially compared with a thirsty legacy yard, while keeping shade trees properly watered, trees are the last thing to drought-stress in a valley summer. We plan to the water rules in effect at your address.
Irrigation and drainage are part of our landscaping scope, sprinkler and drip installation and repairs, and drainage work for pooling and runoff problems. Scope is confirmed on site, since what is underground decides the right fix.
Recurring lawn care and grounds maintenance are covered on our lawn care page, and tree care continues on its own cycle. Many landscaping clients pair a planting project with a maintenance plan so the new work stays established.
